The Shiller Barclays\tUS REIT Value Index seeks\tto identify\tundervalued US REIT (Real\tEstate\tInvest Trusts) stocks drawing upon Professor Shiller\u2019s property expertise\tand Barclays\u2019 index capability.<\/p>\n<p>The Shiller Barclays US REIT Index aims to provide an alternative\tto market\tcapitalisation weighted indices and offers enhanced exposure to real estate\tmarkets by tracking the performance of liquid REITs.<br \/>\n<quote>The index aims to\tstrike\ta balance between allocating a higher weight to REITs identified by the\tindex<br \/>\nmethodology as\tbeing most undervalued, whilst maintaining\tliquidity, tradability\tand\tdiversification.<\/quote><\/p>\n<p>REITs are\tinvestment vehicles in real\testate that are available to many investors and are commonly traded on major stock exchanges. They derive\tmost\tof their revenue\tfrom\townership\tor financing of rental properties,\tsuch\tas apartment building, hotels and shopping malls. REITs have grown in\tpopularity\tmainly due to their liquid exposure to\tproperty markets, yield\tand diversification benefits.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Robert Shiller commented:\t\u201c<em>Long-term investors\tshould maintain\ta widely diversified portfolio, while retaining\ta value tilt. Real estate is one of\tthe major asset\tclasses that belong in\tthat portfolio.
