In 2008, Euronext was the first exchange to launch a pan-European index focusing on CO2 emissions,
\ndesigned with international experts and in close collaboration with NGOs. The Low Carbon 100 Europe
\nIndex\u00ae measures the performance of Europe\u2019s 100 largest blue chips with the lowest CO2 emissions in their
\nrespective sectors or sub-sectors.<\/p>\n
The new version of the index, designed with Carbone 4[[Carbone 4 is the leading consulting firm specialised in carbon strategy]], is based on a more in-depth and relevant
\nassessment of each company\u2019s carbon footprint. This identifies, for the first time, businesses making a
\npositive contribution to the transition process\u2014not only through their own day-to-day performance, but
\nalso through the products they sell. Selection of index component companies will also reflect the emissions
\navoided as a result of their innovative approach to products and services.<\/p>\n
