The index is accessible through UBS\u2019s<br \/>\nnewly-issued ETF, GENDER, trading on the SIX exchange.<\/p>\n<p>The index methodology selects companies from 23 developed markets that have passed a<br \/>\ncombination of quantitative and qualitative filters. The former entail minimum liquidity and<br \/>\nmarket capitalization requirements to ensure a certain level of tradability. The latter include<br \/>\nlight ESG and in-depth gender equality screenings, both defined by Equileap.<br \/>\n<quote>The gender<br \/>\nscreen ranks companies on 35 points according to 19 criteria, specifically gender balance in<br \/>\nleadership &#038; workforce, equal compensation &#038; work life balance, policies promoting gender<br \/>\nequality, and commitment to transparency and accountability.<\/quote><\/p>\n<p>Timo Pfeiffer, Head of Research at Solactive, said: <em>\u201cOver the past year, we have continued<br \/>\nexpanding our range of gender equality indices, in response to increasing customer demand<br \/>\nfor this theme. By teaming up with Equileap, we have successfully developed five investable<br \/>\nindices, each targeting different countries or regions, that look at how companies are<br \/>\nintegrating gender balance all along their value chain and corporate hierarchy.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Diana van Maasdijk, CEO at Equileap, said: <em>\u201cWe founded Equileap to give individuals and<br \/>\ninstitutions the tools and information needed to invest, aiming for both a return and a more<br \/>\nequitable world. The combination of<br \/>\nbroad gender equality criteria, sustainability and 5% donation to the UBS Optimus<br \/>\nFoundation, makes this ETF a leap step forward in connecting capital to the United Nations&#8217;<br \/>\nSustainable Development Goal 5 \u2013 achieving gender equality and empowering all women and<br \/>\ngirls.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>For the index, the top 100 companies are selected, ensuring an equal weight exposure<br \/>\nbetween US and non-US listed companies. The index is equally weighted, rebalanced annually<br \/>\nand reviewed quarterly.
